The Girl Scout Leadership Experience |
Daisy
Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden
Meet Amazing Daisy and “The Garden Girls,” Cora, Campbell, and Chandra, as well as members of the Flower Family like Lupe the Lupine, who’s honest and fair; Tula the tulip, who’s courageous and strong; Gloria the morning glory, who respects herself and others; and Gerri the geranium, who respects authority.
In this Journey for kindergarteners and first-graders, a favorite pastime – Gardening – combines with the Girl Scout Law. The result is a storybook world of flowers and little girls who, together, do great things. Girl Scout Daisies will especially enjoy meeting the colorful, global characters who teach them to live the Girl Scout Law.
Girl Scout Daisies will care for a garden and explore the seeds to leadership, which are the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law. The Journey’s three awards, which tie directly to the garden theme, recognize girls’ progress in applying the Girl Scout Law to their lives
- The Watering Can Award represents girls being ‘‘responsible for what I say and do.’’ Girls earn the award by caring for their mini-garden and beginning to understand how the Promise and Law play out in their daily lives.
- The Golden Honey Bee Award represents taking action through a gardening effort for others to make the world a better place. The award is named for Honey, the bee who is one of the Daisy Flower Garden characters.
- The Amazing Daisy Award represents knowing—and living— the Girl Scout Promise and Law, just like Amazing Daisy, the main character of the Journey.
Brownie
Brownie Quest
Join the elf, meet her friends, and together find clues to uncover the three keys. Then see what excitement they can unlock.
Girl Scout Brownies are about to set off on a quest to find three very important keys; the three keys they will uncover along this journey are the keys of the Girl Scout leadership philosophy-Discover, Connect, and Take Action. To find each key, Girl Scout Brownies will take three steps, which consist of different activities that call for them to connect with their troop, their family, or their community.
The journey book is divided into two trails: the Trail of the ELF Adventure and the Trail of the Three Keys. Along the first trail, “the Elf Adventure”, Girl Scout Brownies will meet some new friends and a magical elf, who team up to save a family of trees. Each chapter of the story is accompanied by activities the girls can enjoy on their own or with friends and family. Their story serves as a springboard for the real Girl Scout Brownies to choose their own Take Action project –a solution to a community need identified by the Brownies. It also helps them uncover the true meaning of ELF: Explore, Link arms, and Fly into action!
The Trail of the Three Keys is the trail that leaders and girls will follow whenever they gather. It consists of the nine steps Girl Scout Brownies will take to find the keys to leadership and earn the corresponding award. Creating circles of caring, engaging in team-building games, creating a Brownie Team Agreement, searching to discover the values of the Girl Scout Law – these are just some of the games, activities, and projects that leaders can find in the sample sessions of their Brownie Quest Leader Guide to help their Girl Scout Brownies take each of these nine steps.
Junior
Agent of Change
Create your own "herstory" and figure out the Power of One, the Power of Team and the Power of Community. Plus, check out what Dez I. Ner says about taking action and making change.
This Journey has a whole spiral of change waiting for Girl Scout Juniors. The Journey is filled with ceremonies and circles, real-life heroines, and special new characters, including the fashion-savvy spider named Dez. Along the way Girl Scout Juniors create a circle of fun and friendship as they move from a deeper understanding of themselves to discovering how powerful they are as a team to realizing the added strength they gain by reaching out to the wider community. Agent of Change offers girls a chance to earn three awards and record progress throughout the journey in their own ''Award Tracker.''
The three awards each represent one of the powers that Girl Scout Juniors discover and explore: the power of one (me to the max), the power of a team (Moxie up the team) and the power of community (mobilize the globe).
- The Power of One Award is all about you and your power. You’ll take a look at heroines of the past or present to see what powers you share. Tie it all to the Girl Scout Law and you’ve discovered your power.
- The Power of Team Award is all about working with other Girl Scout Juniors to create a “supergirl” crew that can tackle any challenge along the way.
- The Power of Community Award is when you use the Power of One and the Power of Team to complete a “take action” project. Get the community involved with your project and see how you’ve become an agent of change.

Senior
GIRLtopia
Girl Scout Seniors can easily imagine a GIRLtopia, then take action to make their vision come true. One book. One award. One vision. One reality.
This leadership Journey invites Girl Scout Seniors to consider the reality of life for girls throughout the world. As they explore and take in this reality, they are invited to envision an ideal world – a society that consistently respects one another’s needs, values, and interests. Through team discussions and reflective experiences, girls will act as visionaries who can forsee a GIRLtopia.
On this Journey, Girl Scout Seniors can earn the Girl Scout Senior Visionary Award which signifies girls have a firm leadership foundation: knowing who they are, able to make ethical decision, build teams, care about others, envision change, and take action.
Key Activities
- Create It: Discover YOUtopia as girls create a work of art to represent their vision of an ideal world
- Guide It: Guide a mini-discussion or group activity that engages other girls in thinking about visionary leadership
- Change It: Do a Take Action Project that moves the world one step closer to GIRLtopia
Ambassador
Your Voice – Your World: the Power of Advocacy
Speak out! Girl Scout Ambassadors find out what they believe in, explore how to be an advocate for their cause, and build a network that will last a lifetime. The world is listening. Are you ready to be heard?
This Girl Scout leadership Journey engages Girl Scout Ambassadors in becoming advocates in their communities. Advocates get at the root of an issue and create a plan to address it.
Girl Scout Ambassadors use their values to choose an issue they care about and then learn an eight-step process for advocating on that issue. Along the way, they build a network of community partners and create a "pitch" to summarize their issue and a proposed solution. Ambassadors network to identify VIPs who can influence change. The girls then speak out for that change by making their pitch to the VIPs.
Throughout the Journey, girls will develop valuable leadership skills -- problem solving, research, networking, persuasive speaking, consensus-building – that will serve them throughout their lives. The Journey also features an inspirational timeline highlighting the advocacy efforts of women across the centuries and around the globe.
On this Journey, Girl Scout Ambassadors can earn the prestigious Advocate Award. The Advocate Award comes in the form of a patch or a pin.
